Operational amplifier, is essentially a DC-coupled high-gain voltage amplifying device. They are ideal for signal conditioning, DC amplification, filtering, and can be used in conjunction with external feedback components such as capacitors and resistors between their outputs. ) together with the input terminal.
An op amp performs different functions depending on its feedback configuration, whether it is resistive, capacitive, or both, based on which it can use a differential amplifier, an integrator, or a summer.
1. What is LM358?
The LM358 operational amplifier is a low-power dual operational amplifier consisting of two independent, high-gain, internally frequency-compensated operational amplifiers designed to operate from a single supply over a wide voltage range.
The LM358 operational amplifier features low power consumption, a common-mode input voltage range extending to ground/VEE, and single- or dual-supply operation. It has several distinct advantages over standard op amp types in single-supply applications.
The amplifier can operate from supply voltages as low as 3.0 V or as high as 32 V. The common-mode input range includes the negative supply, eliminating the need for external biasing components in many applications. The output voltage range also includes the negative supply voltage.

3.How the LM358 works
A Proteus simulation of LM358 is designed here, which can give you a better understanding of the working principle of LM358. In this simulation, a small automatic LED switching circuit is designed based on the LDR value. The image is shown below:
You can see in the picture above that I connected the LDR on the input pin and the LED on the output pin of the LM358.
Now, when the LDR is dimmed, the LED will remain off, but when the LDR is lit, the LED will also be on.
A variable resistor is used for sensitivity purposes, and in the image below, its ON state is shown:
You can see in the picture above that now the LED is on because the LDR is on.
4.Model introduction
Overview
LM358DR is a single-supply dual operational amplifier, and it is also a model that is well reflected in the market and has a wide range of uses. The interior includes two independent, high-gain, internal frequency-compensated operational amplifiers, which are suitable for single-supply use with a wide supply voltage range, and are also suitable for dual-supply operating modes. Under recommended operating conditions, the supply current and supply voltage irrelevant. It can be used in sense amplifiers, DC gain blocks, and anywhere else an op amp can be operated from a single supply.
