In 1956, Nichia Corporation was established at Aratano-Cho, Anan-City. The operation of Kaminaka Plant (presently Headquarters and Main Plant) started in 1964. After two years, Nichia Corporation began the production of phosphors for fluorescent lamps. In 1968 a patent license agreement with General Electric was concluded. Nichia Corporation Established Tokyo Sales Office, Osaka Sales Office, Nichia America Corporation and Nichia (Malaysia) SDN.BHD during 1979 to 1989. Nichia has grown in the field of manufacturing and sales of fine chemicals, particularly inorganic luminescent materials (phosphors). In the process of the challenging pursuit of brighter luminescent and light-emitting materials, Nichia Corporation succeeded in developing and commercializing the super high brightness Blue LED in 1993. It was accepted with great amazement in the related industries throughout the world. In 2010 Nichia Corporation established Nichia Chemical Pte Ltd. Melbourne Office in Australia. Nichia Corporation has a belief that Nitride-based semiconductors will become one of the most exciting areas of the semiconductor industry in the near future.
