Ceramic Magnetics, Inc (CMI) offers a wide variety of Manganese Zinc (MnZn) and Nickel Zinc (NiZn) ferrites specializing in custom powder compositions, custom machined cores as well as standard shapes and sizes.
CMI offers a one-stop solution for applications in power supplies, rotating transformers, pulse transformers, noise suppression and filtering, antennas, sensors and many other magnetic circuit applications.
Their engineering and manufacturing capabilities enable us to develop proof of concept prototypes and then seamlessly ramp up to full scale production quantities. Our assembly department is available to deliver finished product when and where needed.
CMI is a fully integrated manufacturer with both MnZn and NiZn powder processing. Ferrite cores can be manufactured using high volume presses for smaller shapes. Larger shapes can be pressed using 100 ton presses or isostatic pressing. Precision grinding and machining offer tolerances as close as 0.001".CMI is committed to providing a high level of customer satisfaction through striving for continuous improvement and an empowered workforce.
Ceramic Magnetics' History
Ceramic Magnetics (CMI) became an independent company in 1965 when several employees of the Kearfott Corporation purchased its Materials Development facility. This operation traced its roots to the early 1940s. Its mission was to develop magnetic materials for use in electromagnetic devices. When CMI opened its doors for business, there were several "State of the Art" materials already for sale.
The founders of CMI had the early philosophy to retain the company's strength as a material development facility, and offer materials formed into cores or shapes customized for the application. This philosophy has served our customers well and has allowed CMI to continue to develop new materials, devices, techniques, and cores that assist customers in solving technical problems.
In January 2015, CMI was acquired from Thomas & Skinner (owners since May 1985) by National Magnetics Group, Inc. of Bethlehem, PA.
Ceramic Magnetics is a fully integrated manufacturer of both NiZn and MnZn ferrite cores. We process powder and fabricate finished ferrite shapes. This gives Ceramic Magnetics the ability to control magnetic core properties to our customer's requirements.Ferrite cores are manufactured using high volume presses for smaller shapes and 100 ton presses or isostatic pressing for larger shapes. We offer a complete line of standard pressed parts such as toroids, baluns, and squaroids for telecom applications and a complete line of shapes for power conversion transformer and filter designs.
CMI is probably best known for the abilty to machine ferrites to almost any size and shape. They are committed to supporting your requirements for exact tolerances or unique shapes. Their ferrite machining capabilties will enable you to realize new product development and speed to market at a reasonable cost. As the volume grows, we will assist you in determining and realizing the best processes to scale up production.
